The JD Knot Nose Hackamore measures 8.5” from the top of the shank, straight down to the bottom of the shank. There are two rope knots strategically placed on either side of the nosepiece that should lay on either side of the bony part of a horse's nose, in the softer more sensitive area. Because of the knots it is considered a little bit more severe (or direct) as compared to a regular rope nose hackamore.
Hackamores should hang low on the bridge of the nose just above the soft part of the nostril to be most effective. Curb chains should be adjusted properly with about 2 fingers able to slide between it and yourhorse. If its too loose or too tight it effects how the hackamore is working on your horse making itobsolete.
